Social media hacks and vulnerabilities seem to have become the new paradigm in cybercrime, with more and more crypto blockchains and DeFi protocols falling victim to this problem this year. Axie Infinity was the most recent victim of the same.

Axie Infinity Blames MEE6

Axie Infinity announced today through Twitter that the MEE6 bot, which was deployed on their primary Axie server, has been hijacked.

According to the investigation, the hacker utilized the MEE6 to provide a fake Jiho account bogus rights, and then fraudulent announcements about a mint were broadcast on the channels.

The MEE6 bot was disabled shortly after, and the phony communications were erased. Nonetheless, one person claims that their NFT and domain have been taken.

The MEE6 team responded that the claims leveled against them were "fake news," since they had not seen any odd behavior or been approached by any legitimate community owners.

The admin accounts of Axie Infinity's Discord server were hijacked, according to the MEE6 support server, allowing the hacker to utilize the MEE6 bot to publish phishing messages and links in the channels.

Whatever the situation may be, the Axie Infinity investment community is losing patience, since this is the platform's second assault, the first being a $625 million breach.

Axie Infinity's Ronin Bridge vulnerability, dubbed "the largest hack in the history of crypto," was responsible for half of all crypto assaults in the first quarter of 2022.

Axie Infinity must improve its security in the future before investors begin to withdraw their monies.
